For over thirty years, master potter Jennifer Eerdmans has been inspired by the simple yet beautifully articulated designs of early Dutch and English pottery to carry on the
tradtion of past artisans. We hope you will enjoy these pieces of history. All pieces are handmade and finished with a food safe glaze. Handwashing is recommended.

English County Pottery Seasonal Plates |
Jennifer Eerdmans Jennifer Eerdmans is a master potter who has been practicing her craft for over thirty years. Jennifer grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan and studied ceramics at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Here, a love of red clay developed, and she has been working with it exclusively ever since. Jennifer opened her studio in the mid 1970s and named her business English Country Pottery after the sixteenth and seventeenth century redware from England which has so inspired her. Today, such influences as American folk muralist Rufus Porter and the Shakers also inform her work. After years of living and working in historic Granville, Ohio, Jennifer recently relocated her studio back to her home town of Grand Rapids. Each piece is formed over molds and hand-decorated by Jennifer. It takes two weeks to take each piece through the process of drying, firing, decorating, and firing again, keeping production limited and quality high. As each piece is hand-crafted and unique, the historic tradition of craft continues with her work. |
